nemali magazine
Nemali Magazine Volume: 1, Issue: 1
Theme: Dreams
Whether it is what you dream of when you fall asleep at night or if it is what you dream of when you're awake, the theme is about what dreams mean to you. You can write a piece loosely related to this topic or follow it exactly - we do not care - but there should be a link between your piece and the theme.
If you would like to submit a piece to this issue, send it to nemalimagazine@proton.me. In the subject line, include the type of piece you are writing as well as its title. For example, "Kavita/Poem: Rathri Kalalu". If you were raised outside of India, please include the country you were raised in in your email. We are taking submissions for this issue through the day of Deepavali in the United States - October 20, 2025 at 11:59 PM. That is October 21, 2025 at 10:29 AM in India.
If you have any questions, email us at nemalimagazine@proton.me.
Submission Guidelines:
Short Stories
We are taking submissions of all lengths of short stories, but those that exceeds 5,000-6,000 words have a lower chance of being published.
We greatly enjoy new forms and types of short stories, so if you are wanting to break the bounds of the standard short story, please do so.
Poems
For one issue, we only accept up to 3 poem submissions per person.
Critiques and Reviews
If you are wanting to write a cultural critique or artistic review, you do not have to follow the theme of "Dreams". However, if you do so, priority will be given to your submission.
We accept critique pieces of all lengths, but those that are longer that 5,000-6,000 words will have a lower chance of being published.
For this section, we are allowing submissions written in English, but priority will be given to those written in Telugu.
If you write a review of any form of art, we require that you situate the art piece and its critique in a broader scope of societal context and issues.
